ACOEM Annual Awards

ACOEM Awards are presented annually during the Opening Session at the American Occupational Health Conference.

Submit a Nomination for the 2025 ACOEM Annual Awards

The awards and their criteria are as follows:

  • Health Achievement in Occupational Medicine Award. Presented to an ACOEM member for a specific, unique achievement in the field of OEM. ACOEM members may receive this award more than once, but only for completely distinct/separate achievements or service and then only after three (3) years have passed, except under special circumstances approved by the Board after Executive Committee review. ACOEM Officers and Directors are not eligible during their terms of office.
     
  • Meritorious Service Award. Presented to a member who has provided meritorious service to ACOEM. Members may receive this award more than once, but only for completely distinct/separate achievements or service and then only after three (3) years have passed, except under special circumstances approved by the Board after Executive Committee review. ACOEM Officers and Directors are not eligible during their terms of office.
     
  • Lifetime Achievement in OEM Award. Presented to an individual (member or non-member of ACOEM) who has had a distinguished career in one or more disciplines of occupational medicine, environmental medicine, and/or environmental health. This is for a lifetime achievement and as such is only awarded once. ACOEM Officers and Directors are not eligible during their terms of office.
     
  • Excellence in Education or Research in OEM Award. Presented to an individual (member or non-member of ACOEM) for significant contributions made to academic excellence or research in the disciplines of occupational medicine, environmental medicine, and/or environmental health. This is for a lifetime achievement and as such is only awarded once. ACOEM Officers and Directors are not eligible during their terms of office.
 
  • Excellence in Mentorship Award. Presented to an ACOEM member who has contributed significantly to mentoring and training OEM providers. ACOEM Officers and Directors are not eligible during their terms of office.
 
  • Vanguard Award. Presented to an ACOEM member for significant contributions to the advancement of the ACOEM mission and/or the specialty of OEM within their first 5 years of active membership.Nominees must be in no more than their sixth year of  active membership at the time of the award presentation. Members are eligible to receive this award only once. ACOEM Officers and Directors are not eligible during their terms of office. Awards may be given to multiple individuals per year.

Occupational and Environmental Medicine Media Excellence Awards (OEMMEs)

The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) sponsors the annual Occupational and Environmental Medicine Media Excellence Awards (OEMMEs), a series of awards to recognize and honor efforts by journalists who promote understanding of occupational and environmental medicine and/or increase public awareness of workplace health, prevention, and/or wellbeing.
