About CDME Training Program 2024

Commercial driver medical examiners (CDMEs) play a vital role in promoting the safety of America's roadways by ensuring that commercial motor vehicle operators are physically qualified to drive. Examiners may be physicians or other health care providers licensed by their state practice act to perform exams. This training course conforms to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) training curriculum modules and topics for the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) on regulations and guidelines for conducting Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) driver medical examination.

The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits .™

Intended Audience 

This activity is designed for physicians and other health care professionals who conduct DOT medical examinations. The expectation is that course participants have already mastered physical examination, diagnosis, and treatment skills during their health care training and the emphasis will be applying issues specific to the commercial driver.

Airport Transportation  

Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), situated about 10 miles away, is the recommended arrival airport. Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW), approximately 36 miles from the hotel, is an alternative. Please plan ground transportation time accordingly. 

Ground Transportation

Taxis: You can e-hail and e-pay with CHICABS-approved apps ARRO and CURB. Credit cards are accepted in all taxis. 

Ride Sharing: Uber and Lyft are very prominent and accessible in Chicago. Make sure you download the apps if you don’t have them already to request a ride 

Shuttle Buses: Shuttle bus will be available to transport you from Sheraton Elk Grove Village to ACOEM headquarters. Check your email closer to the event for more information and times.

Accreditation and Credit Designation Statement 
The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. ™ Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

How to Claim CME 
Upon completion of the course, you will be required to complete a course evaluation. Attendees must submit the course evaluation by November 8, 2024, to receive CME credits. Once completed, your CME credits will be accessible in your ACOEM profile.

Cancellation Policy  

All cancellations and transfer requests must be in writing (educationinfo@acoem.org) and received two weeks (14 days) prior to the first date of the class. All cancellations and transfer requests are subject to a $100 fee. Course material must be returned before a refund of the remaining tuition is sent. 

Refunds or credits will not be given for failure to attend, late arrival, flight/transportation cancellations, unattended events, or early departure. In the rare event of a course cancellation, ACOEM is not responsible for, nor will it provide refunds for costs associated with travel, airfare, hotel or transportation costs incurred by the registered attendee. It is always recommended that the registrant consider purchasing independent travel insurance. 

ACOEM reserves the right to cancel a course. Registrants will be notified by email. In the event of course cancellation, registration fees are refundable; however, airline and hotel penalties are the responsibility of the registrant.
