This Virtual LIVE Commercial Driver Medical Examiner (CDME) course meets the requirements for initial certification and 10-year re-training for the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) (effective September 2022).
This live, instructor-led training follows the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) required curriculum modules and topics for the NRCME, focusing on regulations and clinical guidelines for conducting Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) driver medical examinations.
The course has been fully revised to align with the 2024 Medical Examiner Handbook and incorporates all applicable FMCSA updates, including new forms, clarifications, and regulatory changes released since the handbook’s publication. While the Medical Examiner Handbook serves as the primary foundation, participants will also discuss Medical Expert Panel and Medical Review Board recommendations that may inform certification determinations.
This course is designed for clinicians who have already mastered general physical examination, diagnosis, and treatment skills. The emphasis is on applying those skills specifically to commercial driver medical certification through the regulations and guidelines provided by the FMCSA interpretation.
