ACOEM’s government relations activities help the College maintain a strong presence in Washington, D.C., ensuring our members’ interests are represented in key decisions affecting occupational and environmental medicine (OEM). Through the College’s various councils and committees, policies and statements are developed that relate to proposed legislation or regulations at the federal and state levels, along with guidance statements that pertain to occupational and environmental health issues.

ACOEM’s policies, position and guidance statements, public comments, related press releases, and our representation in Washington, all work in tandem to support the goals of the College – improving the care and well being of workers through science and the sharing of knowledge.

ACOEM’s representative in legislative and regulatory matters is Patrick O’Connor of Kent & O’Connor, Washington, D.C.
