Dr. Robert Blink and WOEMA Petition California to Ban Engineered Stone

NPR recently covered WOEMA’s (Western Occupational & Environmental Medical Association) petition urging California to ban the cutting of engineered stone, a popular countertop material that generates dangerous levels of silica dust and causes stoneworkers to develop a devastating occupational lung disease.

Dr. Nicholas Pytel on Preventing and Treating Common Workplace Injuries

ACOEM Member Dr. Nicholas Pytel of UPMC Occupational Medicine recently spoke with WNEP-TV about preventing and treating workplace injuries.
 
Dr. Pytel highlighted that sprains, strains, and seasonal slips and falls are among the most common on-the-job injuries and offered practical tips for workers in physically demanding roles.

ACOEM Leadership Leads Capitol Hill Push for NIOSH and OEM Residency Funding

On March 5, ACOEM President Dr. Laura Gillis, President-elect Dr. Jill Rosenthal, Past President and Council on Government Affairs (COGA) Chair Dr. Bob Bourgeois, and COGA Vice Chair Dr. Judith McKenzie took to Capitol Hill to advocate for sustained federal funding for NIOSH programs supporting OEM residency training.
