ACOEM Comments on OSHA's Proposed Heat Standard
On January 26, 2022, ACOEM submitted comments to OSHA in response to the Agency's
Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) on Heat Injury and Illness Prevention in Outdoor and Indoor Work Settings. ACOEM expressed its strong support of OSHA’s initiation of rulemaking to protect workers from heat-related injuries and illnesses (HRI). The College's comments focus on the following elements of a successful employer HRI prevention program: heat exposure limits that trigger workplace controls, acclimatization and other workplace controls; first aid and emergency response; worker and supervisor training; and medical monitoring/surveillance.
