What is federal advocacy and why is it important? What are the significant legislative and regulatory issues that impact the OEM community? How, when, and why should you get involved? Join ACOEM leadership and panels of experts as we explore ACOEM’s Advocacy Agenda and legislative priorities, provide an overview of the advocacy process, and deep dive into two issues important to OEM providers. Issue Briefing #1, Marijuana in the Workplace, will detail ACOEM’s involvement in the Cannabis Coalition and may include presentations from allies such as the American Trucking Association, the National Manufacturers Association, and the National Safety Council. Issue Briefing #2, Healthcare and Workplace Violence, will include an overview of the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act (H.R. 1309 / S. 851) and feature presentations by congressional office staffers. A toolkit on how to schedule a visit with your Members of Congress will be provided in advance. The workshop prepares you to meet with your legislators, offers guidance on relationship building, and provides talking points and leave-behind materials. Additionally, a lunchtime presentation from ACOEM’s AMA delegates is included.
Registration includes breakfast at 7:30 AM and lunch at 12:00 PM the Washington Hilton. Transportation to Capitol Hill is not included. Please book your return flight and hotel nights accordingly for participation in this Thursday event.
